Oooh, I like it! And a new Dean The Space Rogue story is always a good thing I like that the names have returned to the cover too, I thought that always made it seem more magazine-like. Funny thing is, I was so excited to see my name there that I never even noticed the typo. I must have looked at it about forty times before the wife pointed it out! _________________ Regeneration-Ray Gun Revival #49

Only complaint I have so far is the load time to switch pages. No matter whether I'm viewing in my browser or off the downloaded copy to my desktop, there's a definite lag when changing pages.

Ah, yes. This is why I'm glad we have an e-zine, where we can fix typos without 'stopping the presses'!
We'll fix that for you, Martin. Mea culpa! _________________ Johne (Phy) Cook | Overlord, Ray Gun Revival magazine |

I have to agree with Aston, the lag time between pages is VERY frustrating. I even stopped reading after a while because of this. I like the titles on the cover, but not the format on the inside. I much prefer the previous format for the guts of the magazine. I don't want to sound like a cry baby, but you guys did ask for input. _________________ So. We meet again Flash Gordon... |

We did. and thanks for your honest input. We're not withdrawing the offer just because it might mean heat for us. We really are interested, because it gives us information, grist for the mill, and gives you a forum for expressing yourself freely. This is all good. _________________ Johne (Phy) Cook | Overlord, Ray Gun Revival magazine |

Looks amazing. My only complaint is that my story doesn't have "Part 1" in its title, letting people know it's part of a longer series. _________________ My Podcast - Dead Robots' Society

Opened the file in Adobe 7.0, and though it said something about the file containing features that I would need to update, it opened fine and displayed well too. Unlike some others, I didn't have any lag in paging through it, appeared to roll right along. Nice layout for reading on the PC.
I wonder if you've ever considered an ebook format. If you use Mobi prc, it can be loaded onto a Kindle, IPhone, IPod Touch, and probably some other devices. PDFs don't work too well on those and the layout would need to be different.
Just a thought. _________________ R. L. Copple

Oh, sure, Copple. Let's change it all again. Glad you didn't experience the lag problem. I had a second or two delay on my machine when switching pages, but it sounds like perhaps the problem was more pronounced for others. Sorry, all. The issue has been fixed (I hope), and a new version will be posted shortly.

Wow. I like having the names up on the cover again and the inside format is GREAT. I also like the semi-new RGR logo on the contents page. And I don't seem to be having any issue with slow-turning pages, like some readers.
This is a very nice change.

This issue was a perfect example. Wow.
An awesome experiment and thrilling change! The feeling I got, from experiencing the new format, was that it's the closest to having a real hard copy version of the ezine.
Great job.

Hi mate.
I think the new style is pretty cool, it gives de sensation of reading a paper magazine but you should check the size of the background images for it takes too long to the computer to switch the pages, perhaps next time you can have them with a lower resolution.
Great job! |

We've updated the issue since Friday night. The new build should load pages faster. The latest version is from Sunday afternoon and is revision 'D' (you can find the rev in this layout on the TOC page under the top left logo). _________________ Johne (Phy) Cook | Overlord, Ray Gun Revival magazine |

You said you liked to tweak things! I'm just adding to the tweaking genie. Well, okay, a new format goes beyond tweaking, it's a super-tweak. (Using the original meaning of "super," not the popular one.)

Probably a difference in CPU power, memory capacity (including how much stuff is running in memory), and graphic rendering memory. But looks like you've addressed that.
